Dix mois d’école et d’opéra

Founded in 1991 by the Opéra National de Paris, the programme ‘Dix mois d’école et d’Opéra’ (Ten months of school and opera) gives a renewed urge to achieve academic success to almost a thousand pupils from schools in priority education areas in the académies of Paris, Créteil, and Versailles.

Since 2007, Emmanuel Ceysson has taken an active part in the programme through workshops and mini-concerts designed to facilitate contact with this young public. Each time, his instrument is an object of curiosity and wonder, and he never misses a chance to share his passion for the harp repertoire and the values which have enabled him to achieve his level of excellence: passion, perseverance, patience, and constant self-questioning.

‘When he placed his fingers on his instrument and started to play, he and his harp were like one, as if they formed a unit, a couple. A sensual relationship was born right in front of us.’

‘I really liked hearing the pieces he played, especially the last one, by Debussy, which was at the same time gentle and powerful. I had the impression I was in another world where everything was weightless.’

‘I don’t think you know he began the harp at the age of eight: it’s extraordinary, don’t you think? My heart was pounding when he let me play his harp. It was a wonderful day.’
